Operation Christmas Child

Picture
Samaritan's Purse is a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. Operation Christmas Child, the world's largest Christmas project, brings joy and hope to needy children around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 100 million shoe box gifts have been delivered to children in more than 130 countries.

If you would like more information on Samaritan's Purse or Operation Christmas Child, you can see how they c
hange the lives of children around the world, one shoe box gift at a time.

For the next few weeks, you can collect shoe boxes at CrossPointe Church on Sunday mornings, and you can also purchase plastic ,shoe boxes from Dollar Tree. We will be gathering the packaged shoe boxes to deliver for shipment until the first week of November. If you have packaged shoe boxes to ship, please bring them to church on Sunday Morning, with your donation of $7, to help offset the cost of shipping for each box (one lump payment for multiple boxes, please). You can print off labels online to attach to your boxes and also donate online by visiting their webpage.

Here is a list of suggested items to pack in your shoebox:
  • TOYS: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as dolls, toy cars, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
  • NON-LIQUID HYGIENE ITEMS: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc.
  • ACCESSORIES: t-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
  • A PERSONAL NOTE: You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and address, the child may be able to write back.
  • DO NOT INCLUDE: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans
